Hello, my name is Jen Pistor. I’m a slow fashion writer and content creator as well as a Mom of three girls. I live in beautiful British Columbia in the city of New Westminster (just outside of Vancouver). As a micro-influencer, I use my platform to educate about the harms of fast fashion and overconsumption. I also work on normalizing thrifting and I like to make brand introductions to small, local, sustainable, and ethical brands. I show folks how to make the most out of their wardrobes, feel good about their personal style, and embrace a more sustainable way of being a fashion lover. I believe that every choice we make to do better is a step in the right direction to help our planet, but there is always more work to be done.

I got my start in the fashion industry at just 10 years old when I began modeling. I quickly fell in love with clothing and how it could be a form of self expression and a way to channel creativity. I made fashion a very big part of my life with getting my diploma in Fashion Marketing, working in many facets of the industry for 30+ years, and then I started a style blog back in 2010. It wasn’t until about 6 years ago after watching the documentary The True Cost by Andrew Morgan, that I truly understood the negative impact of the fashion industry on people and the planet. This was when everything changed for me and my slow fashion journey began. I educated myself on waste, consumerism, over-consumption, fast fashion and how it all intersected with our climate crisis. Through this learning I saw all the ways we can do better as individuals to help make an impact for good. When there are many working towards the same goal, change can happen. However, there is still a lot of work to be done in major systems in order for us to move the needle. The Fight Climate Change with Policy fund is a way to support those who are fighting climate change by advocating for policy change. We need systems and governments to implement policies that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

When you support Jennifer’s fundraiser, your donation will go toward the Fight Climate Change with Policy Fund by Unite for Change which includes eight organizations from across Canada that focus on advocacy to create policy change. These organizations use a collaborative approach within and outside the environment and climate change sector to make a positive impact at the provincial and federal level.
